The Oil and Gas boom~

Bowling Green is an amazing place. It was the center of much attention when it first began and really it is quite an interesting place. What amazed you most about the oil and gas boom here in NWO? What about the oil's effect on the environment? What it good or bad? Would you have liked to have been a gas or oil prospector? How did these booms improve or impoverish the people of NWO? You decide and tell us?

  1. What amazed me is the high pressure that can push the natural gas and other liquids high above the sky, namely nine feet. They didn't know the oil could be very dangerous to the environment. When the goose and ducks saw the black substance, they never came back. It is also burned all the corners of the city. Although they were not hard workers at the beginning, it became more and more tough later. I would not like to be with the oil wells... The oil bring light to people, ruined environment. I don not know if it's a good thing.

  4. Xiaodong! I agree that it was a terrible waste of oil. The sad thing is that the folks who found the oil didn't understand that 50-75 years in the future that it would become so important to the US and the world. Neither did they understand the gravity of what they were doing to the natural environment. I personally am horrified everytime I listen to the section of the video about how the people, the towns, and the waterways were coated in oil. Today we would consider this an environmental problem; much like what we've had with BP.

But truly, it is amazing to think that this area of land, which was thought to be worthless, and the last area of land to be settled in Ohio, turned out to be the most valuable piece of land.
